Just got back from LA today. Yesterday was the FYF FEST and it was a rad experience. Long lines and an unorganized will call/guestlist staff stunted the beginning of the day, causing us to miss Eat Skull, Kurt Vile, Woods and Nobunny. However, once we entered the park we were able to meet up with the Black Lips. We hung out on their tour bus, drank beers and wine, talked music, and watched Lightning Bolt from backstage. All the guys were so friendly and cool. Much thanks to Chris from VICE who took good care of us. Hope to meet up with the guys again in NYC at CMJ.

I also ran into Jacob from Mae Shi/Signals who I haven’t seen in a few years. We talked about possible Jacob Safari remixes for AR. We’ll see what happens… In the beer garden we sipped $7 MGD’s and watched a pyschedilc Tim & Eric performance. The song about “Gumbo” was pretty funny. Drew from Wack Raps (also drums in Love Grenades + Finch) introduced me to Liz from Love Grenades. She’s a sweet and rad girl. We hope to do some AR collab with the Grenades soon.

After the Fest we hit up the VICE party at Mt. Bar in Chinatown where upstairs we watched Wavves play a very unique one man set. He seemed nervous not having Zach Hill backing him on drums, but I enjoyed the solo jams. It was an ambient and dreamy performance. Downstairs at Mt. Bar was the dance party. The DJ was playing old school 60’s British Invasion jams and then jumped head on into a MJ tribute set. So much fun! Also got to meet John from Health. We talked about the remix that AR will be starting this week for Death +. Really excited to get cracking on the track!

Due to my constant chatting and drinking, I failed to take pictures. The only pic I have is this shot of Black Lips playing from backstage. I promise to capture more next time! Overall a RAD trip!

I am heading to LA this weekend for FYF FEST!!! Can’t wait! I’m super stoked to finally see No Age and Black Lips!!!

Pete Versus Toby is a hip high end fashion company out of Sydney. I met these lads at the Vice Magic Party. We sipped on some Hornitos and talked music, fashion, and guns. Really cool guys and I look foward to hangin out with them when AR makes it to Sydney.
